The creative process, in all its possibilities of expression through color and form, has fascinated me since childhood. Teaching in one-on-one lessons, pair lessons, as well as in groups, workshops, and art weeks, has allowed me to grow, expanding beyond mere artistic instruction to create a space for a holistic process in my students. In this approach, my personal presence, combined with full emotional freedom, is so focused that guidance on technique, composition, and color design becomes easily accessible. My students regularly surpass their own expectations.

Art therapy
“Art therapy aims to educate, develop, and heal through artistic means. In addition to learned artistic disciplines (painting, sculpture, graphic design), it also employs methodology and didactics in the fields of education, therapy, and psychotherapy. This approach supports and complements other measures, particularly medical treatment, to positively influence processes of clarification and healing.” (Hans-Jürgen Rieger)
The Association of German Art Therapists (VDKT e.V.) categorizes art therapy as follows:
Psychosocial Art Therapy is simultaneously:
- A revealing method that involves exploring the causes of conflicts, disturbances, and illnesses within a person’s inner world.
- A supportive method that complements other medically prescribed therapies.
- A long-term accompanying method in various fields, such as elderly care, child and youth welfare, work with disabled individuals, and hospice care.
- A practicing method that the patient/client can later use independently.
- A structuring method that can reorder psychological structures, for example, in addiction therapy.
Painting, drawing, gluing, crafting, photographing, modeling, shaping—these can all be hobbies, sometimes they are art. But all of these also provide a foundation for therapeutic purposes.
Psychosocial art therapy utilizes the human ability to bring inner images into external form through their hands.
In the process, it works with psychological competence to resolve conflicts or blockages and to promote healing from physical or mental illnesses.

The “Gertruds.Art” studio is located in the heart of the charming old town of Überlingen. Right in front of the studio, you’ll find two parking spaces. The space is situated at the entrance to the Blatterngraben, with its impressive molasse rock formation, and is only about 300 meters from Lake Constance. The central bus station can be reached via a picturesque path along the stream, just 450 meters away.
Whether you come for a single session or a multi-day workshop, both the journey and the stay offer a unique appeal. The studio provides daylight illumination at all times, a 2.5-meter-high painting wall, multiple easels, and foldable painting tables for both indoor and covered outdoor areas.
The studio is designed to be highly flexible and innovative, allowing for quick transformations as well as the drying and storage of large-scale works. Materials for various techniques are available for both individuals and small groups.

Immerse yourself once or regularly each month in color and form, and discover your own way of expressing yourself to create something great.
All of this takes place under professional guidance—tailored to your needs.
Depending on the season and weather, outdoor areas with natural light are also available to us.

My creativity has grown and evolved through constant artistic practice since childhood, further enriched by sharing with others. Every stage of life has brought its own techniques, themes, materials, and subjects. Whether through product design for interior or exterior spaces, invitations, event design, or large-scale artwork, each period has found its unique expression.
It brings me great joy when I encounter a one-of-a-kind piece that has long faded from my memory. Equally, I am fascinated when I lend a work and rediscover it upon its return. I am often commissioned in the studio to oversee the creation of a new piece, immersing myself in a dynamic creative process once again.
